James McIntosh – no fiddle, no fuss, just food
James McIntosh is a world award winning cookery writer and energetic home economist.
Winner of the prestigious Gourmand award for the best series cookbook with his first publication, mix, James is passionate about cooking, particularly Aga cooking, and is one of a small number of authorised Aga demonstrators. His fiery enthusiasm, great knowledge and expertise have led to invitations from all over the world – to present, demonstrate and lecture on food, cooking and nutrition.
Brought up on a farm in Northern Ireland, James took what was for him a quite natural step into the world of food. Following a Masters degree in Home Economics, James spent the early part of his fast moving career at Asda, Le Cordon Bleu School of Cookery and the Good Housekeeping Institute before setting up the first home economics consultancy in the UK, Whisk.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, he is also former chair of the London branch of the Institute of Consumer Sciences, and in 2008 was invited to speak at the 21st World Congress of the International Federation for Home Economics, held in Switzerland. He is a member of the Guild of Food Writers and the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
James works with many clients including: Aga, the Aga magazine, Antony Worrall Thompson, Easy Living magazine, British Airways, British Watercress, New Zealand Lamb and Aga Ranges USA amongst others. He is often called upon to offer his expertise in radio interviews and consumer phone-ins and he regularly reviews articles for the International Journal of Home Economics.
In 2009, James travelled along the Silk Road in China, presenting for a television series for China Food TV alongside Argentian chef, Chakall.
His world award winning series of essential cookery books includes mix., dinner., cake. and veg. All are available to buy online.
